Enjoy! 7/20/2011 Green Beans harvest this morning. This morning harvest of 13lbs. of green beans, 2lbs of pole beans, 1 lb of sugar snap peas and one very full fridge. Capped off by a few heads of broccoli and 6 pounds squash to make sure the fridge door will be tricky for a few days. Needless to say there will be green beans in the Farm Stand Friday. "For the curious we plant our beans in 3' by 10' beds one bed produces 15-20 lbs." 7/13/2011 One Basket of Squash MorningThis mornings squash harvest filled the basket. The high heat is putting a hurting on the plants but they are producing squash this size in days! This is one of our favorite recipes for courgettes. Ingredients
Via:BBCGOODFODD Wow! The corn is coming along! All of the garden is growing nicely, including the weeds. We had to do some serious weed wacking and hand weeding to clean out the garden beds and the rows between. The wonderful thing is, that you can look back after you have completed a row, and see what your hard work has created! A tidy garden that looks spectacular! Tomatoes are growing strong too- little green tomatoes are popping out on almost all of the plants. In no time, we will be selling tomatoes at the farm stand. This weekend, we added sugar snap peas, zucchini and yellow squash, and some of our dried lavender. Enjoy the weekend! Thank you to everyone who found something scrumptious to bring home with them from the Farm Stand this weekend! This week, we wanted to share some more pictures about how the garden is progressing. Pictured is our corn stalks- not that many of them, about 20 stalks are growing, but its our first time! We hope we can bring some ears of corn to the Farm Stand later in the season. Below, our braising greens- beautiful, aren't they! Little baby leaves packed with great nutrients! And of course, our mixed salad greens are still growing strong, so we will keep bringing you our delicious salad greens! Enjoy the week! Keep checking out the blog for more pictures of the garden growing! 6/11/2011 The Lavender is Harvested! After a morning of rain, The clouds remained, but the air was cool and dry. The plants dried out, and we went for a tour of the garden to check on everything. We came across our lavender and noticed it was ready for harvesting! What fun! We smell delicious, and so does our hall closet where we chose to dry the lavender- a cool, dry, dark place is needed to dry lavender to maintain the scent and color of the buds. Don't they look beautiful? In about two weeks we will have bunches of lavender for sale at the farm stand. I will be keeping a few aside for soap and other sweet smelling items. |
